Web design vs. Print
Every website is container that displays information, just as a book every web page is like the page in a book; the web design can show us the information like that. One difference between both could be that the web designer could not know the end size or shape in his web design, while a print designer will know exactly what size paper he will be printing on his design. But is not the only difference between both, the web design and print design. Then I can show some of them in the following points.
Dimensionality on the design.
Print design is 2 dimensional, typically, each view is a design unit created for a fixed size canvas, in contrast web design is 1 dimensional and N-dimensional simultaneously. In a web design user can have the of a scrolling through the website and all the elements, on the contrary with printer design that the user experience can be scroll between the pages in a book for reading.
Navigation
Moving around the website maybe is all a user's want n a web design, the navigation turns dynamic and interesting to the user. In the another hand in print navigation of page turning could be bored and uninteresting for the user, for example if you're navigating in a website and you're reading some topic in there and you some link for more info about it you only click over the link and ready you're reading something more about the topic, contrary if you're reading a printed design and wants more info you need to go to some library and buy for another print design.
Multimedia interactivity.
Print design can knock out the reader with impact over the visualization, but web design day a day wins because the user engagement can be possible with non static elements. Web design can show moving images and it can allow the user to be interactive with the medium and make so interesting the interface between user and website.
I did show you some differences between web design and print design, but be respectful for both kinds of designs; after all print design was before web design, and in resume after this conversation I can contribute with the following final resume of the differences between web design and print design.
Print design is based on keep the user's eyes walk over the information, selectively looking at information objects to make page elements enhance and explain each other.
Web design functions by keep the user's hands moving the information; information relationships are expressed temporally as part of an interaction and user movement.
